There is no feeling in the world like riding a motorcycle… Wind in your hair, fresh air all around, nature, trees, and the knowledge that there’s deadly asphalt looming just 6 inches away from you, can fill you with a feeling of exhilaration usually reserved only for Russian Roulette.

The obvious image of a biker does of course bring to mind leather jackets, chaps, and rough looking individuals, but over the years the sport of motorcycling has become more mainstream. Lawyers do it, Referees do it, even educated MDs do it.

Let’s get into it… shall we? Why should O’Nail Hartman be your source for motorcycle insurance in Ohio?

Motorcycle Insurance Basics

Motorcycle insurance is a type of coverage that protects you and your motorcycle in case of an accident or theft. Similar to car insurance, it offers financial protection against potential losses.

Who Needs Motorcycle Insurance? Most states require motorcycle owners to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance. This means if you cause an accident, the insurance will cover the damages you inflict on others. Even if it’s not mandatory in your state, it’s highly recommended to have coverage to protect your financial well-being.

What Does Motorcycle Insurance Cover? There are several types of motorcycle insurance coverage:

  • Motorcycle WrenchLiability Insurance: This is typically required by law. It covers bodily injury and property damage caused to others in an accident that is your fault.
  • Collision Insurance: Covers damage to your motorcycle in a collision, regardless of who is at fault.
  • Comprehensive Coverage: Protects your motorcycle from damages caused by theft, vandalism, fire, natural disasters, and other non-collision incidents.
  • Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Coverage: Protects you if you’re injured by an uninsured or underinsured driver.
  • Medical Payments Coverage: Covers medical expenses for you and your passengers, regardless of who is at fault.

How Much Does Motorcycle Insurance Cost? The cost of motorcycle insurance varies depending on several factors:

  • Your age and riding experience: Younger and less experienced riders typically pay higher premiums.
  • Your motorcycle’s value: Higher-value motorcycles generally cost more to insure.
  • Your location: Insurance rates can vary by state and even by city.
  • Your driving record: Accidents and traffic violations can increase your premiums.
  • Your coverage options: The more coverage you choose, the higher your premium will be.
